‘Wicked’ Premiere Fashion: Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo & More Magical Looks!

Cynthia Erivo has had enough of this pop-u-lar question about her long nails.

So, when Dax Shepard recently asked if her lengthy manicure made it difficult for her to wipe after going to the bathroom, the Wicked star set the record straight.

"Can I ask you a really crazy question that's inappropriate?" Dax began on the Nov. 18 episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, before Cynthia interjected that she knew what he was going to say because it was an inquiry that she said "no one's afraid to ask."

The Broadway actress continued, "Everybody asks that question, and my answer is that nobody uses just their fingers to wipe their backside."

"You use tissue, correct?" she asked Dax. "And you wipe!"

Cynthia went on to explain that the toilet paper goes on "the pads of the fingers," so she doesn't actually "feel" her nails when she's wiping—contrary to speculation.

She added, "I fold."

And though Cynthia understands the curiosity surrounding her long nails, she admittedly is over all the online theories about whether or not she can go to the bathroom with them.

"I'm annoyed by it," she told Dax. "But I get it, but it's also like, I'm a functioning adult and I've never walked around smelling like, you know."

Noting that she wipes "very well" regardless the length of her nails, Cynthia jokingly added, "Here's the thing, there are people who do not have nails who need to check how they're wiping."

But Dax, for one, has never been shy about publicizing his hygiene hot takes. After all, the Parenthood alum once broke the internet by revealing that he and wife Kristen Bell—with whom he shares daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9—don't bathe their kids for "sometimes five, six days."

"We bathed our children every single night—prior to bed is like the routine," Dax shared in a 2021 episode of The View. "And then somehow, they just started going to sleep on their own without the routine, and by George, we had to start saying, 'Hey, when's the last time you bathed them?'"

Kristen agreed, adding that she's "a big fan of waiting for the stink" before a bath.

"Once you catch a whiff, that's biology's way of letting you know you need to clean it up," she explained. "There's a red flag. Because honestly, it's just bacteria. And once you get the bacteria, you gotta be like, 'Get in the tub or the shower.' So I don't hate what they're doing. I wait for the stink."

Back in July 2021, the couple sparked a conversation about bathing habits when they shared their preference on the Armchair Expert podcast. "I don't wash my body with soap every day," Mila shared. As for her husband, "I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever," Ashton admitted.

"More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times," the Donnie Darko alum told Vanity Fair in 2021. "I do also think that there's a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves."

"Nope, I'm the opposite of a 'not washing themselves' celeb," the Jungle Cruise star revealed in a 2021 post on X, then known as Twitter. "Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin'. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work. Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower."

"Is it ok if I admit that my daughter bathing daily is a firm rule in my house?" the former Real Housewives of New York City star shared on X in 2021."Bathing is cleansing, relaxing & helps with sleep. I have instilled in her a good hygiene routine since birth. Am I canceled for this radical approach?"

"I'm not starting any trends, I shower, trust me, I shower," the Aquaman star told Access Hollywood in 2021. "I'm Aquaman, I'm in the f--king water, don't worry about it. I'm Hawaiian, we got saltwater on me, we good."

While filming Inglourious Basterds, the actor offered some unconventional hygiene tips for his costars. "He shared that when you're sweating and don't have time to take a shower, you just take a baby wipe and rub it under your armpits," friend Eli Roth told People in 2009. "After a scene, Brad had to get next to me for a close-up shot, and he said, ‘Damn, you're ripe.'" I said, ‘I didn't have time to shower.' He said, ‘Baby wipes, man, baby wipes.'"
