TORONTO — On Wednesday, CUPE 1328, joined by supporters from the Ontario School Board Council of Unions (OSBCU), the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL), education union allies, elected representatives, and community supporters, will hold a coffee truck event outside Pope Francis Catholic School. The event will engage the community about the realities facing Ontario’s publicly funded education system and raise awareness on how the Ford government’s chronic underfunding is affecting children’s education and the services and supports available in schools.

CUPE 1328 represents education workers across the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Members are already facing serious challenges caused by chronic understaffing and underfunding, which are increasing workloads, leaving students’ needs unmet and making it more difficult for education workers to provide the safe, reliable supports students depend on.

CUPE 1328 members will have petitions, campaign information, lawn signs and flyers available. The event will also provide an opportunity for parents, community members and labour allies to speak directly with education workers about the realities inside Ontario schools.
