The Chicago Cubs aren't making big splashes in free agency right now.
But they've added another player with a quality resume in their latest signing on Tuesday.
According to The Athletic's Patrick Mooney, the Cubs have signed right-handed relief pitcher Jacob Webb to a one-year deal that also includes a club option for 2027.
Webb has pitched in 247 MLB games and has a career 2.99 ERA.
Prior to this, Webb has pitched for the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers.

Webb was originally a 14th-round pick of the Atlanta Braves in 2014.
He broke into the bigs in 2019 and spent his first three seasons with Atlanta. That included claiming a World Series ring in 2021.
He didn't pitch in the majors in 2022, then split the 2023 season between the Angels and Orioles.
In 2024, Webb was with Baltimore again, and he pitched in a career-high 60 games and put up a 3.02 ERA.
In 2025, Webb moved on to the Rangers, having a 3.00 ERA in 55 appearances.
Webb is 32 years old, a 6-foot-2 right-hander.
In his career, he has an 8.7 strikeouts per nine ratio, although he does walk 3.8 per nine. This past season, he had the lowest walk rate of his career, so if he can keep that up, he should be able to throw a lot of quality bullpen innings for Chicago.
