The Chicago Cubs have signed a talented right arm to their pitching staff.
The deal was reported Saturday afternoon by The Athletic's Will Sammon: Coming to the Cubs is the relief pitcher Hunter Harvey.
Harvey has traveled a fascinating baseball journey.
He was originally a first-round pick by the Orioles in the 2013 MLB Draft.
He ascended quite high in prospect rankings lists, but he sustained injury after injury and didn't make his MLB debut until 2019.
Harvey spent parts of three seasons with the Orioles, then joined the Nationals and then the Royals.
He has made all 182 of his MLB appearances out of the bullpen and has a career 3.11 ERA.

His 2025 was encouraging, when he was available to pitch.
With the Royals, Harvey got into 12 games and threw 10.2 innings. He didn't allow a single run, and he struck out 11.
The Cubs haven't made flashy moves yet this offseason, but landing Harvey is a quality addition that can bolster the bullpen.
Chicago would like to catch up to the Brewers in the NL Central Division, and even subtle moves like this one will give the Cubs a better chance of doing just that.
