The Dallas Cowboys' home-opener against the New York Giants in Week 2 was far from an easy task, eventually beating them in overtime with a final score of 40-37.
The Cowboys are struggling on the defensive side of the ball in their first two games since trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Dallas has failed to keep their opponents under 20 points through two games, and the team has only tallied four sacks so far this season.
Following Sunday's contest, the Cowboys went out and found a potential piece to help improve the team's pass rush.
Cowboys sign Jadeveon Clowney to one-year deal
Jadeveon Clowney visited the Dallas Cowboys' facility earlier this week, fueling speculation that he could join the team for the 2025 season.
On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms with the free agent defensive end on a one-year $6 million deal, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported.
The deal will link the 2014 first overall pick to the Cowboys for the rest of the 2025 season. He most recently played with the Carolina Panthers in 2024, but they released the 32-year-old back in May.
Although it may be impossible to replace a top defensive player like Micah Parsons, Dallas' new addition will help to fill the void.
Clowney will likely help bolster the Cowboys' pass rush while also adding some veteran leadership to the team. In the 11 seasons he's been in the league, Clowney has earned three Pro Bowl selections and an AP Second-Team All-Pro selection in 2016.
In 140 career games, he has 409 total tackles, 58 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, and one interception.
