The Dallas Cowboys went into the NFL Draft with clear needs. While they addressed some big holes in their roster, they failed to add any help for CeeDee Lamb.
The Cowboys desperately need another elite pass catcher in their offense. The Cowboys did not draft a single receiver and project Jalen Tolbert to be their No.2 receiver. While Tolbert showed signs of being a capable No.2, the Cowboys' failure to draft a young pass catcher could prove costly if Tolbert does not continue to get better. The third-year player had a career-high 610 receiving yards last season.
However, there is still an opportunity for them to add a superstar to their offense. Before the draft, an anonymous general manager told NFL insider Jordan Schultz that George Pickens of the Pittsburgh Steelers is "more available than people think." Schultz also noted that multiple teams are interested in him.
Many thought Pickens could be dealt during the draft. However, he was not. Before the draft, Jerry Jones alluded to the Cowboys looking into two "substantive" trades that could take place after the draft. Perhaps Pickens is the player the Cowboys are targeting, which is why they did not add a receiver.
Bleacher Report's Paul Kasabian tabbed the Cowboys as the best landing spot for Pickens.
"Dallas didn't pick another wideout in this draft, so there's still a need there for another star wideout," wrote Kasabian. "Pickens could potentially be the answer. It's hard seeing a fit elsewhere at this juncture, in part because of the draft capital it would take to get a player of his caliber. Plus, any team that trades for him would probably want to sign him to a contract extension to avoid the possibility of losing him for nothing when his rookie contract expires after the 2025 season."
Micah Parsons may have hinted at the Cowboys' desire to draft a receiver during a Bleacher Report live stream during the draft. When the Carolina Panthers selected Tetairoa McMillan at No.8, he exclaimed, "That was supposed to be our pick."

Spotrac projects Pickens to sign a four-year, $94 million deal in free agency. He has been a victim of poor quarterback play in Pittsburgh, but he has the talent to be a superstar in the league. He already has one 1,000-yard season under his belt and had 900 yards last year. Playing on an offense with Dak Prescott and Lamb could lead to his best year yet.
