Cowboys' Jerry Jones says trade will be 'consummated' on Tuesday

While talking with Stephen A. Smith and Michael Irvin on Monday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that one trade had already been made while promising more before Tuesday's deadline. He later clarified when the already-made trade would become official.

Clarence Hill of DLLS Sports spoke with Jones shortly after those comments. Per Hill, the Cowboys' owner said that "the trade will be consummated tomorrow."

The initial comments were somewhat vague, particularly since the video shared (also by Hill) had shaky audio. It wasn't clear if the already-made trade had yet to be announced or if he was referring to the team's last official trade, which sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers days before the start of the regular season.

Another variable is that while the rest of the league is through Week 9, the Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals will play each other on Monday Night Football. It's highly unlikely that any team would agree to trade for a player but still let him play a game (while risking injury) for another team. So, this suggests that Dallas will be trading picks away and likely acquiring a player in the aforementioned agreed-upon deal.

The Cowboys enter Monday night's game at 3-4-1, good enough for only the No. 11 seed in the NFC, far outside of the playoff picture. Nine NFC teams have at least five wins and five of them, including the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles, have six.

So while a win on Monday would certainly be a boon to Dallas' postseason hopes, the Cowboys have a tough road to the postseason regardless.
