The Dallas Cowboys' 2025 season is in danger of ending with a whimper after a 34-17 beatdown at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers at AT&T Stadium.
After a solid first half from the offense, Dak Prescott and Co. went cold, while the defense, under Matt Eberflus, looked as bad as it has all season.
In truth, Eberflus will have two games left in his Cowboys tenure before Jerry Jones makes a change. He has to.
And for CBS Sports' John Breech, he didn't hold back in his assessment of the mess in Dallas, giving it a "D" grade.
“When the Cowboys made the trade for Quinnen Williams back in November, the defense seemed to get a spark for a few weeks, but that spark is now long gone,” Breech wrote. "The Cowboys (6-8-1) look like they're ready for the offseason to start.”

Cowboys have to let Eberflus go
For most of Cowboys Nation, Eberflus' tenure was officially over weeks ago, and with two games left in the season, there is no reason for Jerry Jones to keep him around in 2026.
The defense, aside from three weeks when it looked competent, has looked horrible and, against the Chargers, didn't offer any resistance whatsoever.
It has been poor performance after another this season, and yes, the offense isn't blameless. Still, you will be hard-pressed to find a person in Cowboys Nation who doesn't think Dallas' biggest problem is the defense and its inability to do anything meaningful in games.
As such, there isn't a valid reason why Eberflus should be at The Star in 2026.
