Cowboys' Dak Prescott projected to be behind Jared Goff in Hall of Fame race by ESPN

The Dallas Cowboys have had some legendary players come through their organization over the years, and while he's not been of the same ilk as some of those legends, Dak Prescott has certainly become an all-time Cowboys quarterback.

The 2016 Day 3 draft pick has turned out to be an incredible QB in league history, but how does he stack up for a bid to the Hall of Fame?

Well, according to ESPN's Bill Barnwell, Prescott's Hall of Fame projection comes with some tough news, as Barnwell projects that Jared Goff is ahead of Prescott in the Hall of Fame race heading into 2026.

"The problem is that Goff, a more productive player with a more significant postseason resume, might already be ahead of him in that upper-middle-class tier of potential Hall of Fame quarterbacks, let alone when we consider the likes of Jackson, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes," Barnwell writes.

Prescott has been an impressive quarterback during his NFL career, but he's currently projected behind Goff on the all-time Hall of Fame candidacy leaderboard by Barnwell.

Both Prescott and Goff were drafted in 2016, one as the No.1 overall pick and the other as the 135th overall selection. Prescott has only been with the Cowboys, while Goff went from the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions. So, how do they actually stack up?

Prescott has 35,989 yards passing with 243 touchdowns and a 66.9 completion percentage with an 83-55-1 record and 92 interceptions with four Pro Bowls, an Offensive Rookie of the Year, and a Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

Goff has 39,622 passing yards with 256 touchdowns and a 65.8 completion percentage with a 90-60-1 record and 102 interceptions with five Pro Bowls.

The real big difference here is in the playoffs. Goff has a 4-5 record with 2,450 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. Prescott has a 2-5 record with 1,962 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

While Prescott might be the better quarterback in a vacuum, looking at their career resumes, Goff does have a slight edge on Prescott for the Hall of Fame.

It's not a major difference, but if Barnwell's projection is correct, it might take a while for Prescott to make the Hall of Fame unless he continues to play at a very high level and goes on a deep playoff run to win a Super Bowl or win an MVP award.

Barnwell is projecting Goff to have a better shot at the Hall of Fame than Prescott, though both might just miss out on such a status unless they win a Super Bowl or play for a while longer to finish with incredible counting statistics.
