The Dallas Cowboys are trying to make sense of their quarterback depth chart.
And after adding one new QB in free agency, they've cut another one.
Earlier in the week, Sam Howell was brought aboard in Dallas.
That meant that on Thursday, the Cowboys chose to release Will Grier, according to Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News.
The release of Grier means the battle for the backup QB spot behind Dak Prescott will come down to Howell and Joe Milton.
Grier spent last summer with the Cowboys and then was on the practice squad for the entire season.
He signed a futures contract with Dallas in February, which set him up to stick around for the offseason, but now he's been released from that.

Grier was a third-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers out of West Virginia in 2019, but he's never panned out.
His only two NFL games came in that rookie season with the Panthers. He started twice and lost both games.
Across those two starts, he was 28-for-52 passing (53.8%) for 228 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions.
Grier has since spent various periods with the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and now the Cowboys.
He'll have to see if another team will bring him aboard, but it seems like his time with Dallas is over.
