Cowboys coach knows big 'problem' plaguing team after Broncos loss

The Dallas Cowboys got a good old-fashioned beating at the hands of the Denver Broncos in a 44-24 loss at Mile High.

Dallas' high-octane offense was grounded with Dak Prescott throwing two interceptions, while constantly being pressured, and the Cowboys' defense, well, it continued its bad form for the season, giving up big play after big play to Bo Nix and Co.

Speaking post-game, head coach Brian Schottenheimer stated that his team was a good football team. When asked why, given their 3-4-1 record, he explained.

“I do see us every day,” Schottenheimer said. “I see what we're capable of. Here's the word, consistency. We're not very consistent, and we have to be more consistent. Last week, we did a great job stopping the run. Tonight we didn't, and so there in lies a problem. Last couple games we've been protecting the football, which has given us a chance. Tonight we didn't.

"I think we're a talented football team. I know we have things to get better at and improve on, but I do think we're a good football team and we played a good football team tonight and didn't play well.”

Cowboys' defense gets torched again

The offense, for the most part, has been consistent this year, but the defense? Anything but.

Nix and the Denver offense had big pass chunks, along with big gains on the ground, as Matt Eberflus' unit once again looked second-rate against NFL opposition.

Yes, part of it was the injuries, but there were too many players once again left by themselves downfield, and 44 points were given up in a brutal display. With the trade deadline looming, some want the franchise to make a move, but after a game like this, you have to wonder if Dallas is better off keeping those draft picks for next offseason.

Either way, the Cowboys' defense was shown up again, and this time, it might have been its worst performance of the year. Why? Inconsistency.
