Cowboys-Broncos trade idea brings $60 million Pro Bowler to Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys did not add a reliable receiver next to CeeDee Lamb this offseason. While Jalen Tolbert showed flashes of his ability to be a good No.2 option, the Cowboys may want an upgrade.

The Cowboys' free agent options are limited, but they could swing a trade for a reliable pass catcher. FanSided's Criss Partee suggested they make a blockbuster trade with the Denver Broncos for Pro Bowl wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

"Courtland Sutton is the most experienced of this trio and arguably the most dependable," wrote Partee. "The 29-year-old Denver Bronco is coming off a career year with 81 receptions, 1,081 yards and 8 touchdowns over 17 games. He averaged 13.3 yards per catch, serving as Denver’s go-to target in high-pressure situations. Sutton’s calling card is his contested catch prowess. His reliability in clutch moments would be a major asset for Dak Prescott."

Sutton signed a four-year, $60 million extension in 2021. He is going to be a free agent after the season, and the Broncos may be looking to surround Bo Nix with a younger crop of receivers. Sutton has 5,340 career receiving yards and 32 touchdowns. He has fallen victim to poor quarterback play, but his talent is unquestionable.

"Denver’s wide receiver room is changing, with younger players emerging," wrote Partee. "Sutton’s Texas roots and physical style could align perfectly with what the Cowboys want to do in the passing game. His contract and age make him a pricier acquisition, but there’s no doubt he would bring instant credibility and toughness to Dallas’ passing attack."

Pairing Sutton with Lamb could lead to a phenomenal season for him. He was a Pro Bowler in 2019 and has two 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. With Lamb drawing more coverage and Prescott as his trigger man, he could finally reach his potential.
