If Maxx Crosby does hit the trade block this offseason, the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills are three teams likely to be interested.
While it remains to be seen if Crosby will actually get traded, the idea that it could happen was given a boost by FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, who said he believes that Crosby has played his last snap with the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that, despite the star edge rusher being disgruntled over getting shut down before the season ended, Crosby is "in a great place" with the Raiders and has not requested a trade.
"Sources say Crosby and the team are in a great place, even with Crosby obviously frustrated with not being able to finish the season on the field after he was shut down for the final two games of the 2025 season," Rapoport reported. "Crosby hasn't requested a trade."
That is obviously not great news for potential suitors like the Bills, Cowboys and Patriots, as this suggests there's still a chance Crosby remains in Vegas.
In what is more bad news for Crosby suitors, Rapoport reports that Crosby had a full repair of his meniscus in early January and his recovery could take as long as three to four months.
Rapoport adds that could delay the process of Crosby being traded if he's available, as teams will likely want to make sure he's fully healthy before pulling the trigger on what would be a blockbuster trade.
Instead of a trade happening before or at the start of free agency in March, Crosby may not get moved until closer to the draft, or even as late as closer to the start of the season.
"Sources clarified that Crosby actually underwent a minor meniscus repair -- not a trim -- on Jan. 7, meaning his recovery will be measured in months, not weeks. A meniscus trim is often 4-6 weeks of recovery while a repair can be 3-4 months. Crosby's should be shorter," Rapoport said.
"Teams can trust their medical experts and project a player's health, so a trade is, at least, possible," Rapoport added. "But rarely are players not yet finished with rehab included in blockbuster trades. This likely means that if Crosby is traded, it may be much later, perhaps at the 2026 NFL Draft or prior to the season."
This is a problem because teams will want to shore up their edge rusher situation as soon as possible and that goal might not be attainable if they want Crosby but don't want to sign him before he's cleared.
And teams that take their foot off the pedal in free agency in order to wait for the five-time Pro Bowler risk losing out on other free agents with zero guarantee Crosby will actually land with them.
All of this sets up for a difficult situation to navigate. Of course, there may end up being no situation to navigate if Crosby stays in Vegas.
