Cowboys and Bills named potential landing spots for projected $122 million star free agent playmaker

The Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills have been named as potential landing spots for a star playmaker in free agency.

YardBarker's Colton Edwards believes wide receiver George Pickens will remain in Dallas or sign with Buffalo this offseason.

Here is what Edwards had to say about Pickens and his fit with the Cowboys and Bills:

"It would be smart for owner/GM Jerry Jones and the Cowboys to re-sign Pickens. He expanded the offense and allowed QB Dak Prescott to flourish with an experienced receiving corps. The Bills still need a consistent, experienced veteran who can open up the offense quickly. QB Josh Allen still lacks elite production at the receiving position, and this would bring him over the hump."

Pickens made a statement in a contract season in 2025, tallying 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns on 93 receptions. The 25-year-old also earned his first Pro Bowl selection and a second-team All-Pro nod.

Dallas wants to retain Pickens, but it remains to be seen whether they sign him to a long-term extension or use the franchise tag. The Georgia product formed an electric duo with CeeDee Lamb and took the Cowboys' passing offense to new heights with quarterback Dak Prescott.

However, if Dallas doesn't re-sign Pickens, the Bills should pursue him. Adding Pickens to serve as quarterback Josh Allen's No. 1 receiver would be an exhilarating move from general manager Brandon Beane.

Spotrac projects Pickens will land a deal worth $122 million over four seasons with $30.6 million annually. The Bills are slated to be $7 million under the cap, but can clear some space by making cuts and restructuring contracts.

If Pickens leaves Dallas, Buffalo should go all-in for the young playmaker and bolster their receiver room for Allen. However, the Cowboys would be foolish to let Pickens leave the building after the season he just had.
