The start of the 2025 World Cup of Darts is just a couple of days away.
The clear favorites going in are England, with their dominant pair of Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, the top two players in the order of merit.
Although it seems very unlikely for anyone to upset the practically undefeatable pairing, there could be a few countries that could pull off the upset if they catch England on an off day.

What countries can beat England at the World Cup of Darts?
Let's break down the teams with the best shots.
Wales - Jonny Clayton & Gerwyn Price
This pair has made it far on the World Cup of Darts stage, making three finals appearances in the last five years where they were able to capture two titles.
Price and Clayton took down England in 2020 to win their first title as a pair, against Michael Smith and Rob Cross.
They lost 3-1 (match format) against the Aussie pairing of Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock in 2022.

They were able to capture their second World Cup of Darts title as a pair in 2023, in the debut of the tournament's leg format, against Peter Wright and Gary Anderson of Scotland.
Price and Clayton are third all-time in tournament appearances as a duo, with six.
Clayton and Price currently sit as the world number 5 and 11, respectively.
Wales will get a bye from the group stage, as they are the two seed in the tournament.

Belgium - Dimitri Van Den Bergh & Mike De Decker
De Decker and Van Den Bergh currently sit 21 and 22 in the world, respectively, and Belgium is the sixth seed coming into the tournament.
De Decker won the World Grand Prix in 2024 against Luke Humphries in the final, showcasing that he can beat a force like 'Cool Hand' on a big stage.
He was also a finalist in the Belgium Darts Open earlier this year, losing 8-5 to Littler in the final game.

Van Den Bergh has had quality runs in tournaments this year, making the semifinal of the World Masters, as well as the sixth round of the UK Open.
De Decker will be making his debut on the World Cup of Darts stage, after replacing Kim Huybrechts as Belgium number two.
Belgium are coming off back-to-back semifinal appearances, and there's no reason they shouldn't have a shot to be right back in the mix.

Australia - Damon Heta & Simon Whitlock
Despite Whitlock losing his tour card, he can still be a threat, along with the dangerous world number eight, Damon Heta.
This pair won the World Cup of Darts title back in 2022, against Price and Clayton of Wales.
Heta is fresh off a European Tour final a couple of weeks ago and looks to be in great form.
Whitlock always seems to be clutch when he needs to be, so other countries can't take this dangerous pair lightly.

With Whitlock not holding a tour card currently, Australia is unseeded.
Their group consists of Spain and Austria, which can give them problems in the short game format for group stage matches.
Austria is fresh of a final appearance in 2024, so Australia will have to be at the top of their game to ensure they move through to the knockout stage.

Netherlands - Danny Noppert & Gian van Veen
This year's Dutch pair looks a lot different than it did in the past, with Michael van Gerwen sitting out of this year's World Cup of Darts.
We could continue to see more changes in the Dutch pairs at the World Cup over the next few years, as many young Dutch stars like Gian van Veen continue to inch closer to their ceilings.
In the order of merit, Noppert is currently world number 15, and van Veen is world number 23.
The Netherlands is seeded fifth in the tournament, just missing out on the top four which would have given them a bye to the knockout stage.

Both have very high ceilings when they are in a rhythm, which is why they can be a suitor to potentially upset England.
The Netherlands borders Germany and is not too far from Frankfurt where the event will take place, so the Dutch could see some fans make the trip and give them the extra boost they need this weekend.
