Could Browns' Todd Monken turn Taylen Green into Lamar Jackson?

1 hour ago 3

The Cleveland Browns just drafted quarterback Taylen Green.

He joins a crowded QB room with Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. It's a bit of an odd pick at No. 182 in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. But there's one bit of Todd Monken intrigue here.

Monken was the offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens. Now he's the head coach of the Browns, taking over for Kevin Stefanski.

He's the guy who worked with Lamar Jackson as the superstar QB became a two-time MVP.

Jackson and Green aren't the same. Jackson was the 32nd pick, not the 182nd pick.

But Green has the immense athletic ability.

At the NFL Combine, Green ran his 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds. He also vertical leaped 43.5 inches.

He measures about 6-foot-6.

Green is an athletic marvel.

Could he turn into anything even a bit resembling Jackson?

When Jackson was a rookie, he was used a bit as a gadget player while Joe Flacco was still starting for the Ravens.

Green certainly won't be expected to start right away in Cleveland, but Monken knows what to do with a freakishly athletic QB.

Maybe, just maybe, Green can reach a superb ceiling. Monken clearly plans to give him some kind of chance.
