How Jordyn Tyson's NBA brother Jaylon helped prepare him for 2026 NFL Draft

There's nothing like brotherly love.

Jaylon Tyson was not going to let his brother, Jordyn Tyson, go into the 2026 NFL Draft night unprepared. The Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard is not unfamiliar with a draft night, as he was selected 20th overall by the Cavaliers in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. In an interview with People, Jordyn shared the advice his brother gave him going into the 2026 NFL Draft. 

"Yeah, just having that fine medium between the ebbs and flows," Jordyn said of his brother's advice. "Some stuff's going to go your way, some stuff's not going to go your way. So just being yourself through it all, continue to work your tail off through it all, and that's all you really can do. Just focus on yourself."

Jaylon's advice paid off as the brothers made history on Thursday, April 23, when Jaylon was elected eighth overall by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. They are the first brothers to be selected in the first round of two different professional sports. When it was time to let the audience know who helped him get to this point, he made sure Jaylon was recognized.

"Yeah. My brother couldn't be here tonight. All things in me, instilled work ethic in me at a young age would not be here without him, 100%," the wide receiver shared of his brother.

Jordyn is already preparing for his competition on what he will be bringing to the Saints this season. He wants to be able to work well with his teammates as he is certain that opposing teams will have a difficult time covering both he and Chris Olave.

“It’s going to be amazing. Take pressure off each other make our job easier. Us one on one? It’s gonna get ugly,” Jordyn said per NBC.

The 2026 NFL Draft will conclude Saturday, April 25.
