Cops shoot, critically injure 34-year-old NYC man after he charges at them with knife: NYPD

An NYPD officer shot and gravely wounded a knife-wielding man in the Bronx Thursday night after he allegedly charged at the cops.

Police responded to a report of a man armed with a knife inside an apartment on Mulford Avenue in the Pelham Bay section of the borough at around 11:20 p.m., the NYPD said.

The two responding officers repeatedly ordered the 34-year-old to drop the knife, but the perp refused, cops said.

The suspect then “advanced” toward the officers — knife still in hand — and one of the cops fired his service weapon, striking the man, according to police.

He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.

Both officers were also taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

Investigators recovered a knife at the scene.
