Cooper Flagg makes final decision on returning to Duke vs. NBA Draft

Cooper Flagg technically could still opt to return to Duke.

But on Wednesday, the NBA Draft's presumed No. 1 overall pick made clear where his heart and head are.

"I went into the whole process with an open mind and knowing that I couldn’t control it, so just went into it with a happy face and I’m just excited for this opportunity," Flagg told reporters at the NBA Draft Combine.

Flagg was at the lottery on Monday night when the Dallas Mavericks shocked the basketball world by winning the No. 1 overall selection and the right to take Flagg.

“I was surprised, like a lot of people,” Flagg said. “It was kind of a crazy draft lottery.”

Flagg didn't overly commit to comments about the Mavs on Wednesday. Dallas has already been involved in trade rumors with the pick, too.

But Flagg of course knows plenty about what the Mavericks have to offer.

“They got a lot of really good pieces,” he said, adding, “I think it’ll be a really cool opportunity.”

That last line suggests Flagg thinks Dallas might indeed be keeping the pick.

Regardless, Flagg won't be going anywhere other than the No. 1 slot in this year's draft, whoever winds up making that selection.
