Report reveals who 76ers may select with No. 3 pick in 2025 NBA Draft

The Philadelphia 76ers were awarded the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. This was good news for two reasons: one, getting a high lottery pick brightens their future, and two, the Sixers avoided conveying a high lottery pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder from the Al Horford trade.

However, that leaves one question: will the Sixers keep or trade the pick? There’s a rationale for either choice on their part. While confirming the Sixers’ plans, HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto revealed which player they may pick in the draft.

“76ers President Daryl Morey said he plans to keep the third overall pick, which could be Ace Bailey,” Scotto wrote.

It is widely believed that the first two picks will be Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper, respectively. After that, it’s not exactly clear who will be the No. 3 pick, but Bailey is worthy of it, and more importantly, he fits a need for the Sixers as a wing.

The Sixers desperately need some wing depth, as signing Paul George was a complete disaster. In his mid-30s, George will likely decline even further as he ages. Bailey's taking his place would help the Sixers transition smoothly to their next phase.

What also remains in question is what else the Sixers will do this offseason. Both George’s and Joel Embiid’s long-term health remain in question until either prove that they can stay on the floor and can still play at a high level.

Even if neither returns to playing at a high level, the Sixers basically got a golden asset to turn to a new era of basketball. Whether that’s Bailey or someone else, the Sixers’ future is secure.
