"Commonwealth in common??": Perez Hilton reacts to reports on what Chris Martin allegedly finds special in Sophie Turner, unlike Dakota Johnson

American blogger and columnist Perez Hilton recently shared his reaction after reports of English musician Chris Martin’s romance with actress Sophie Turner had swirled online. According to The Daily Mail, the Coldplay frontman and the Game of Thrones actress went on “a secret date” sometime between late September and early October.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, Perez Hilton took to his blog and detailed DeuxMoi’s report on Chris Martin and Sophie Turner’s unexpected romance. According to the media Personality, on Thursday’s episode of the Deux U podcast, DeuxMoi revealed that sources allege that the English singer-songwriter finds something special in the British actress.

“Chris really likes finally being with someone from a similar cultural background — aka, the fact Sophie is also British! Huh. So… they have the Commonwealth in common??” Perez Hilton quipped.

Meanwhile, before being linked to Chris Martin, 48, the 29-year-old X Men: Apocalypse actress was in an on-again, off-again relationship with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, which reportedly ended in late September. It was also reported that the pair were seen “bickering and arguing between feverish snogs on the dance floor” after attending a high-society wedding.

According to Perez Hilton, the anonymous DeuxMoi also reported that the new relationship between the British pair is “very casual” and appears to be along the lines of a fling.

Perez Hilton questions Chris Martin and Sophie Turner’s age gap amid dating rumors

In his Thursday blog, Perez Hilton seemingly took a jab at the age gap between Chris and Sophie amid their rumored romance. Noting that the musician recently split from actress Dakota Johnson, 36, after almost eight years together, the media personality wrote in his blog:

“Yes, it’s a pretty wild age gap… So we guess he felt he was missing something being with an American all that time?... With 19 years separating them, we have to wonder how similar Chris and Sophie’s cultural touchstones really are.”

Meanwhile, Sophie Turner has previously admitted to being a fan of the British rock band Coldplay. According to InStyle, her then-husband Joe Jonas surprised the actress on her birthday in 2020 with a video message from Martin. “I have someone who wants to say happy birthday,” the Disney alum said before passing her the phone.

While the video reportedly captured Turner gushing, Chris Martin is heard:

“This is Chris from Coldplay, I wanted to say on behalf of me and the even more handsome members of our band, have the best day and I am sending you all my love and I hope you're having the best time. Thanks for being awesome, bye.”

Besides wishing Sophie on the phone, Chris reportedly signed off by blowing her a kiss. Notably, the actress replied, “I’m not going to cry on camera” as she was captured putting her face in her hands following the sudden birthday surprise.

For the unversed, Chris Martin shares two kids, Apple, 21, and Moses, 19, with his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow. Sophie’s ex-husband, Joe Jonas, filed for divorce in September 2023, after four years of marriage.

Their divorce proceedings reportedly turned sour as they fought over their two daughters, Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3.
