One of the best moves the Washington Commanders made this offseason was signing All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner to a one year deal. Wagner, the nine-time Pro Bowler during his time with the Seattle Seahawks, elected to join a rather young Commanders roster this past offseason.
The signing is already paying off, as Wagner has picked up where he left off last season. The 13-year veteran has 91 tackles, six tackles for a loss, five quarterback hits and two sacks. Wagner's just nine tackles away from continuing his streak of 100+ in each season of his career.
If he decides to continue playing next year, Bleacher Report believes Wagner should ditch the ascending Commanders and sign with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
The shortcut to dealing with that kind of potential loss is that the Chiefs are going to continue to be a destination for aging veterans who want to chase a ring. Bobby Wagner, if he wants to play his age-35 season, could be a great example. He's shown he can still be an impact player in Washington this season, but he might be willing to take a slightly smaller deal to join the Chiefs pursuit of a Lombardi in 2025.
Their reasoning for this was the possibility of Kansas City losing Nick Bolton to free agency in 2025. If Wagner wants to add a second ring to his extensive resume, heading to the Chiefs isn't a crazy idea. Would Washington let him walk out the door? That's the question that'll need answering when March rolls around.
