Adam Vinatieri’s legendary NFL career continues to receive the recognition it deserves.
The Indianapolis Colts announced Wednesday that Vinatieri will become the 21st member of the franchise’s prestigious Ring of Honor. The ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 18 during the Colts’ home game against the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium, adding another milestone to a remarkable year for one of football’s greatest kickers.
The honor comes just weeks before Vinatieri is set to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, cementing his legacy as arguably the greatest kicker in NFL history.
Vinatieri spent 14 seasons with the Colts after beginning his career with the New England Patriots. While he won three Super Bowls in New England, he added another championship with Indianapolis in Super Bowl XLI and became one of the most reliable players in franchise history.
His consistency and longevity helped rewrite the NFL record book.
Vinatieri’s legendary career recognized
Vinatieri retired as the league’s all-time leader in career points with 2,673 and career field goals made with 599, two records that remain unmatched. He also owns one of the most impressive streaks in league history, converting 44 consecutive field goals during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Throughout his 24-year NFL career, Vinatieri earned four First-Team All-Pro selections and was named to the Pro Bowl three times. He also was selected to both the NFL’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team and the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team, recognizing his dominance over multiple eras.
Although his statistics are extraordinary, Vinatieri is perhaps best remembered for delivering in the game’s biggest moments. His clutch kicks helped the Patriots capture Super Bowl XXXVI and Super Bowl XXXVIII, earning a reputation as one of the most dependable postseason performers in NFL history.
The Colts’ Ring of Honor celebrates players, coaches and contributors who have left a lasting impact on the organization. Vinatieri’s induction places him alongside some of the greatest names in franchise history.
With his Hall of Fame induction next month and his Ring of Honor ceremony this fall, 2026 has become a fitting celebration of a player whose right leg produced some of the most iconic moments the NFL has ever witnessed.
