The Indianapolis Colts have already begun to act as trade deadline sellers, getting out two weeks in front of the actual deadline. Their first two moves were big ones, shipping out DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson.
It's not a matter of if the Colts are going to be selling, but rather who's the next player on the move. Jonathan Taylor, the beloved star running back, is one player who's garnered significant attention as a trade candidate.
While Taylor's name has popped up in trade rumors, how does the Colts' RB actually feel about a trade, and did he request to be dealt? Mike Chappell of FOX 59 reports that head coach Shane Steichen revealed Taylor has not requested a trade from the Colts.
Colts reveal if Jonathan Taylor has requested a trade
"Steichen said Jonathan Taylor has not asked to be traded," Chappell reported Wednesday morning after the Tuesday Buckner and Nelson trades.
With so many rumors swirling around about a potential Taylor trade, this is a noteworthy update on the beloved Colts running back.
Taylor has not requested a trade, so if the Colts do wind up moving him, it won't be the fault of the player at all. Instead, it would be all about the team deciding to tear this team apart and get as much draft capital back as possible.
Knowing now that Taylor has not requested a trade, it's worth keeping in mind what the Colts' plans are this year and going forward.

While the Daniel Jones era didn't work out as planned after a hot start to 2025, the Colts haven't yet made any moves that indicate this is some unprecedented sell-off.
As much as Nelson and Buckner were key players for the Colts, they were both veterans on expiring contracts. Almost all sellers would look to trade those players.
Taylor is under contract beyond 2026, so it would leap this Colts' organization to decide to trade him. Taylor hasn't requested a trade, so the only way Indianapolis moves on from him would be if they decide to blow it up this year.
With there being a real chance of Taylor being traded, Colts fans should know the star running back won't have anything to do with a trade. He hasn't requested a trade, which makes it clear he's more than okay staying in Indianapolis, even as things fall apart.
