Colts' Anthony Richardson predicted to end up as a QB in Canada's CFL

Anthony Richardson hasn't had the start to his NFL career anyone would've wanted.

He was the No. 4 overall pick for the Indianapolis Colts out of Florida in 2023. But injuries and ineffectiveness have made his story an unhappy one so far.

One of his lowest marks: a 47% completion percentage in 2024, an abhorrent number that no one comes close to in this modern era of NFL passing.

Richardson is entering his third season and in an open QB competition in Indy. Daniel Jones was brought in as a veteran free agent to battle for the Colts' starting quarterback role.

Amid all this, one outspoken Fox Sports analyst, Jason McIntyre, has made a pretty bold prediction.

"You better get your Canadian passport because you're gonna be playing in the CFL pretty soon. That's the negative side of Anthony Richardson," McIntyre said on Aug. 8.

On the one hand, this is a wild take.

Top-five pick quarterbacks stick around a long time, even if they're perceived as busts. Richardson will still have a lot of talent, even if he doesn't win the starting job this year.

Maybe he has to journey around as a backup like former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson is now.

But to drop all the way out of the NFL and to the CFL? That'd be unexpected.

It does emphasize how disappointing Richardson has been, though. The Colts would've never wanted such a proclamation made after two seasons of Richardson's career. They hoped they were drafting a future star, one that would finally put Andrew Luck's shock retirement in the rearview mirror.

But so far, it hasn't been great. And Richardson will have to hope he can turn it around and stay in the NFL for the long haul.
