Colts’ Anthony Richardson parting ways is officially on watch after Riley Leonard draft pick

7 hours ago 1

The Indianapolis Colts keep moving in one direction.

Their moves continue to hint that Anthony Richardson won't be in Indy for long.

First, they signed Daniel Jones in free agency.

Then, in Saturday's sixth round, they drafted Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard.

At some point, there'll be too many quarterbacks to go around.

Richardson hasn't helped his cause, completing just 47 percent of his passes in 2024.

He's still entering just his third year after being a top-five pick, but so far, he's a bust.

His talent is tantalizing, with an incredibly powerful arm and bruising running style. It hasn't worked out consistently, though.

The Colts left the door open in offseason comments suggesting Jones could legitimately beat out Richardson for the starting job in 2025.

Leonard isn't a pure passer, but he's a great runner with the ball as well and can make clutch throws. He led Notre Dame all the way to the national championship game.

The Richardson rumors won't slow down at this point.

Even if Richardson stays put, Leonard could see time. He's the type of guy who could have a specific package installed for his power running.

And if Richardson is traded or eventually moves on, Leonard could have a real role to play in the Colts' future.
