Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders on possibly going to Browns in NFL draft

6 hours ago 1

There is an increasing sense that polarizing Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders will go very high in the upcoming NFL draft, despite the reservations some have about him.

He completed 74% of his pass attempts and threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns last season. While Cam Ward, the best quarterback prospect this year, is widely expected to go to the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, who have the next two picks, badly need a young franchise signal-caller to build around.

Experts seem divided on which direction the Browns will go with their No. 2 overall selection. Mary Kay Cabot, a prominent Browns beat writer, asked Sanders what he thought about possibly coming to Cleveland, and he didn't seem to have any objection.

"It don't matter where I go," he said. "... Wherever I go, it's definitely gonna be improvement than what it was before I got there."

If Sanders will become the star plenty feel he can become at the next level, he could help transform a snakebit Browns franchise and give it some stability.

He is considered to be very precise and accurate, especially on short to intermediate passes. He doesn't have elite physical attributes or the strong cannon-like arm Ward has, nor is he a dual-threat quarterback, but he could become a solid point guard-like player.

Dan Orlovsky, the ESPN NFL analyst, said that Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins is the best player comparison for Sanders. If that is true, then Sanders will do well at the pro level.

Plenty, however, feel the Browns will opt for someone such as Travis Hunter, the wide receiver/cornerback hybrid from Colorado, or Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter with the No. 2 pick.
