Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders reportedly dropped the ball while meeting with New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll ahead of the 2025 NFL draft, proving incapable of handling the curveballs Daboll threw him in his meeting.
Sanders also seemingly dropped the ball with the Las Vegas Raiders, even if details are more sparse on how those meetings went.
At the very least, we saw Maxx Crosby seemingly shut the door on the Raiders wanting Sanders under center in a strong vote of confidence for Geno Smith.
The negative reports on his pre-draft process, juxtaposed with Sanders’ recent speeding incidents, have cost the “Grown QB” much of the confidence from media figures who once championed him as a top-of-the-first-round talent.
Dawgs By Nature’s Damon Wolfe labeled those reports “rumors” and “conspiracies, claiming knocks on Sanders have practically nothing to do with his talent.
“Maybe so. It’s also clear that the expectations have dwindled for most of the fan base for Sanders. While no clear reason has been given for his fall, there have been plenty of rumors and theories offered to explain why,” Wolfe wrote.
“Most of which have little to do with the talent that many scouts, including myself, saw on tape. Is he a perfect prospect? By no means. However, he is a very gifted thrower of the football, and he just may have some of the intangibles that special QBs seem to possess.”
Sanders may be out of the running to start for the Cleveland Browns, but his four-year, $4.6 million contract is inconsequential enough on the books in the grand scheme to justify keeping him around.
If he can prove himself during live-time game action, Sanders’ talent will shine through, and the “rumors” and “conspiracies” will be a footnote of his first NFL offseason.
