Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders has been dealing with unspecified health issues this offseason. Apparently, that led to him shirking responsibilities that were mandatory in his contract.

USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer reported that Coach Prime missed several youth athletic camps in the Centennial State this summer.

Schrotenboer also labeled Sanders’ timetable to return to Boulder as a question mark.

“Sanders Sr. has been away from his job in Colorado since April and did not attend Colorado’s annual youth and high school camps in June, even though operating such camps is listed in his employment contract as one of his official duties,” Schrotenboer wrote.

“The timing of his return to campus remains unclear. This is usually a dead time of year for head coaches in college football, but he is due to make an appearance at a Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas, on July 9.”

After Coach Prime’s sons, Shedeur and Shilo, played their final games for the Buffs, many speculated Deion would walk away from coaching altogether, especially given his numerous health issues dating back several years.

Instead, he’s gotten several assistants higher salaries and has utilized the portal to land a top-20 transfer class.

Sanders has been dealing with legitimate health issues, including blood clots in his leg that have led to the amputation of some of his toes and double-digit surgeries.

If CU AD Rick George gives Sanders grace, it’s certainly earned considering Colorado wouldn’t be talked about even .01% as often as it is now without Coach Prime.
