Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders blames silliest reason for bad loss to Houston

Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes football team is 1-2.

They fell on Friday night to the Houston Cougars. And head coach Deion provided one explanation after the game that both makes sense but also seems fixable.

Sanders thinks that Colorado's tendency to practice in the morning lets them down when they play at night.

Here's what Colorado beat reporter Oliver Hayes posted on X:

"HC Deion Sanders says his team loses night games after being asked why his team came up short after a good week of prep. Mentioned that CU is a morning practice team, but can't blame the time."

There's some definite science here. A team used to practicing in the morning may not have its bodies ready to play at full intensity in the evening.

Except, one issue at hand.

It's only a strong excuse if there's nothing that can be done about it.

Without taking into account the moving schedules of college student-athletes, it seems like a simple fix: Have some night practices before night games.

Maybe that's harder than it seems, but probably not. College football programs are more or less professional enterprises. Sanders is tasked with winning games at Colorado. If it would help win games to practice at 7 p.m. instead of 7 a.m., why wouldn't you do that?

Colorado's next two kickoffs are both scheduled for 10:15 p.m. ET, which is 8:15 p.m. in Boulder. Might want to figure this out sooner rather than later.
