The final eight teams standing after a wild and unpredictable NCAA baseball tournament have reconvened in Omaha for the 2026 College World Series.
Turnover is nothing new for the CWS; this marks the second consecutive season with no teams returning from the previous year's gathering in Omaha.
While it may be a new-look cast this year, the SEC remains king until proven otherwise, particularly with a record five teams in the field. Five different schools from the conference have combined to take the last six national championships, with two more reaching the finals and losing to a conference foe. Of those seven teams, only 2022 title winner Ole Miss is present in 2026.
The Rebels happen to be the lone SEC team on their side of the bracket, where they join North Carolina, West Virginia and Troy. The other half is all-SEC, featuring Georgia, Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma.
