College GameDay opts for 'Jackass' star as guest picker amid Trump speculation

ESPN announced that the celebrity guest picker will actually be one of the stars of "Jackass" and someone who is from the area: Johnny Knoxville. The 55-year-old is certainly no stranger to entertaining college kids, as he has done so for most of his life.

'College GameDay' guest picker for Texas-Tennessee

Pat McAfee announced on Thursday that "Jackass" star Johnny Knoxville will be the celebrity guest picker on the University of Tennessee campus this weekend.

The decision comes amid speculation that President Donald Trump may have been tapped to serve as the guest picker, as he is set to attend the game on Saturday afternoon. Instead, ESPN was able to get Knoxville, who has a personal connection to Tennessee and is a huge fan of the volunteers.

Where is Johnny Knoxville from?

Johnny Knoxville was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, a place that is also the inspiration for his current name. Knoxville attended South-Doyle High School, where he was a pitcher for the baseball team.

Knoxville is a longtime Tennessee college sports fan who discussed his fandom on the Pat McAfee Show following the announcement.

"This is one of the best calls I ever got in my life," he said. "I bleed orange."

Knoxville then proceeded to show off a slew of Tennessee jerseys and his "Vols" tattoo in honor of the Volunteers.

Knoxville moved from Tennessee to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment, but he continues to keep his favorite college close to his heart.
