New Mexico strolled into the Rose Bowl and defeated UCLA 35-10, securing its first win over a Power Four opponent in nearly two decades. This was a costly loss for the Bruins. UCLA paid New Mexico $1.2 million to travel to Los Angeles for the game, per On3’s Brett McMurphy.
The longtime college football writer took to social media with a different take.
Poor UCLA: Last time I saw someone from Albuquerque totally annihilate someone this bad was Walter White in final season of Breaking Bad
— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) September 13, 2025The Bruins record fell to 0-3 this season and are projected to suffer a winless Big Ten slate. They came into Friday night having lost games against Utah and UNLV. However, this hit an all-time low in Westwood.
New Mexico finished the game with 450 total yards of offense. The Lobos were particularly dominant in the ground game with nearly 300 yards.
On the other hand, UCLA was flat with a scoreless fourth quarter. The Bruins barely broke the 100-yard mark in a bad rushing attack. They went 3-of-11 on third-down conversion attempts as well. New Mexico's late touchdown in the final two minutes was the exclamation point on a terrible night.
DeShaun Foster posted a 5-7 record in his debut season at UCLA last season. However, those days are long gone.
UCLA has three teams that are currently ranked ahead on its schedule. They'll continue to scrap what's left and regather during the bye week.
