College Football Playoff announcers: Meet the broadcasters for CFP games on TNT, ABC, ESPN

1 hour ago 3

The College Football Playoff will continue its 12-team format for the 2025 season. There will be 11 total games in the tournament, but each game wont have an individual broadcast team.

ESPN has the rights to air the CFP, and will be sending its broadcasters to all of the games, even the two in the first round that will air on TNT. Last year, ESPN assembled six broadcast teams, each spread throughout the tournament, to call the games.

This season, ESPN only has four broadcast teams. While only the first round and the national championship are official so far, it is assumed that each broadcast team will call one game in each of the first two rounds.

Here is more on who will be calling the 2025 College Football Playoff games.

College Football Playoff announcers

There are four commentary teams set for the College Football Playoff, according to ESPN

Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit

The duo of Fowler and Herbstreit has been a staple of the College Football Playoff since its inception. Fowler and Herbstreit were in the booth when Ohio State won the first College Football Playoff national championship in 2014, and they are set to call games in the first round and the national championship game again. They begin the 2025 postseason calling the Alabama-Oklahoma game.

Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy

McDonough is a jack-of-all trades, calling everything from college football to the Stanley Cup Final, and he is no stranger to the College Football Playoff. McElroy, a longtime analyst at ESPN, served as Alabama's starting quarterback from 2009-10 and had a brief NFL stint with the Jets. They will call No. 10 Miami taking on No. 7 Texas A&M and will call one of the two semifinal games.

Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer

Tessitore has plenty of big-game experience, including a stint as the "Monday Night Football" play-by-play broadcaster, but has recently been featured as a commentator for WWE's "Monday Night Raw."

Palmer, of "The Bachelor" fame, has been an analyst at ESPN since 2007. Tessitore and Palmer will be on the call for No. 11 Tulane vs. No. 6 Ole Miss in the first round.

Bob Wischusen, Louis Riddick

Wischusen joined ESPN in 2005 and has long been a play-by-play broadcaster for both college football and college basketball. Also the radio voice of the Jets since 2002, Wischusen will work alongside longtime ESPN analyst Louis Riddick. The duo will call the James Madison-Oregon game in the first round, and will likely add a quarterfinal matchup as well.
