Whit Weeks is running it back with the LSU Tigers. The star linebacker took to Instagram to announce his intention of returning for the 2026 season.

"College is too much fun to leave, and there is no better place in the country to be right now than Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” Weeks wrote. “All I want to do is ball in the purple and gold. See you in September,” wrote Weeks.

Weeks was a key player for LSU in his sophomore season. He amassed a stat line of 120 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception in six games. He earned unanimous first-team All-SEC honors in 2024 for his efforts.

Weeks struggled with injuries throughout the 2025 season. He appeared in a mere six games in 2025, amassing a stat line of 31 tackles and one fumble recovery. He'll now look to rebuild his stock under head coach Lane Kiffin in the 2026 season.

Whit Weeks was tipped to be a Day 2 pick in 2025 Draft

Whit Weeks entered the 2025 season as one of the best linebackers in college football. He was a key part of Brian Kelly's defense and looked poised to solidify his first-round stock.

However, injuries and a down season for the Tigers affected his draft projection. According to NFL Draft Buzz, Weeks was projected to be a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He was listed as the eighth-best linebacker in his class.

The site praised Weeks' explosive trigger, advanced diagnostic skills, controlled violence as a tackler, understated juice as a blitzer, and his natural feelings in zone coverage. Weeks' football intelligence is obvious within minutes of watching him on the gridiron against the best offensive players in college football.

However, some of his weaknesses played a part in his draft stock's plummet. Such weaknesses include his slight frame, tendency to play with extreme aggression, and durability issues after his 2025 injury nightmare.

Whit Weeks is a promising talent. Lane Kiffin will be tasked with harnessing his potential and helping him return to his first-round potential.
