Cody Rhodes reveals his true feelings on getting booed as a babyface

The WWE Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes opened up on his thoughts on getting booed by fans as a babyface. The American Nightmare faced the hostile crowds during his time in AEW.

Cody Rhodes is one of the most beloved babyfaces in the wrestling world today. The American Nightmare has been getting positive reactions from the fans ever since his WWE return in 2022. However, Cody was constantly getting booed during his tenure in AEW from 2019 to 2022 despite being a babyface.

Speaking on All The Smoke podcast recently, the current Undisputed WWE Champion disclosed that he never got mad at fans despite getting hostile reactions from the fans during his time in All Elite Wrestling:

"I never get mad at fans. If fans had booed me in the past and maybe they weren't supposed to boo me or if fans had gotten to me in a social space, whatever it was. I never could go to sleep mad at them because they are also responsible for everything I have. And that's not just my career, but the confidence. You can't do it for silence right? The live audience is what we do," Cody admitted.

Cody Rhodes on his inspirations for not being bothered by fan reactions

In the same interview, Cody Rhodes also named the legendary Tully Blanchard as his inspiration for the mindset of not being bothered by boos or cheers as long as fans are reacting. Cody also revealed that John Cena has the same mindset:

"Tully Blanchard is a legendary from the four horsemen. I remember him telling me, 'your job is just make them the loudest the longest.' Doesn't matter if it's boos, cheers, just the loudest the longest. And ever since he said that...[John] Cena is of the same mindset, that's always been, 'Okay, I can do that.'"

Meanwhile, Rhodes retained his Undisputed WWE title against Drew McIntyre at the recent Saturday Night's Main Event, and it remains to be seen what's next for him.
