Cody Rhodes was supposed to come out for the opening segment of SmackDown to back up The Usos against Team Vision, but instead, he was brutally assaulted by a banned superstar in his private tour bus.
It seems unclear what the status of Cody Rhodes is going to be for Survivor Series: WarGames as of this writing. While he was previously one of the main names on the all-star team comprising of CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and The Usos, things might be up in the air right now. This week, in the opening segment of SmackDown, Paul Heyman was out with Team Vision, which was essentially four of the names and no Brock Lesnar. He was doing his usual promo, hyping up the team, and The Usos would first come out. Paul Heyman quickly pointed out that they were just two, while Team Vision was four. The Usos asked them if they really thought they came alone, and that's when the music of the Undisputed WWE Champion hit.
Unfortunately, he didn't come out, and the camera panned to outside the arena, where Cody Rhodes' tour bus was parked. The suspended Drew McIntyre walked out of it after laying a beatdown on Cody, whose limp body was bloodied and beaten. Despite the suspension laid on him, Drew McIntyre continues to wreak havoc.
The Usos ran backstage to check on Cody, much to the laughter of Paul Heyman and Team Vision. Cody looked lifeless as he was being checked on by the medical team, and Drew McIntyre drove away, saying bye and ending his night on SmackDown prematurely.
The decision to put Drew McIntyre on Team Vision wasn't met with great reception by the WWE management, and The Scottish Warrior has been making quite the impact. It also makes sense from his point of view considering his multiple failed attempts at Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Title.
