Marcus and Markieff Morris got themselves involved in the beef between ESPN studio analyst Kendrick Perkins and Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant. In the Morris twins' twitch channel, they expressed their disappointment with Perkins for throwing shade on Morant's name.
According to the twins, Perkins also broke a code by calling out Morant in his ESPN shows.
“Why you talking about Ja like that?," Markieff said on Perkins. "Code is code. As an OG, even if I don’t f**k with you like that, I’m not about to put it out there that I don't f**k with you like that.”•

Marcus then agreed with his brother's sentiments.
In an episode of the Out of the Mud podcast hosted by Grizzlies legends Zach Randolph and Tony Allen. Perkins called out Morant for his past wrongdoings before saying he also deserved credit for helping Morant and the Grizzlies get media attention.
Perkins also added that he and Morant are not seeing eye to eye.
Meanwhile, Morant responded to Perkins' statements on X, confirming that he is not on good terms with the ESPN analyst.
"you da reason for my notoriety perk? come on dawg . 😂 you showing em why ion fw yo kind," he wrote. The Grizzlies are off to a promising start this season, winning three of their first five games, where Morant averaged 23.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game.
Kendrick Perkins blamed Morant for the Grizzlies' lack of nationally televised games
Ja Morant was one of the most exciting young stars in the league before he was dragged into a gun violence issue two years ago. According to Perkins, it was the reason why the Grizzlies got little spotlight since then.
In the Out of the Mud podcast, Perkins believed Morant played a role in the Grizzlies' lack of nationally televised games.
"I don’t f**k with Ja. You know why I don’t f**k with Ja? The reason I’m so mad at you is because ESPN packed up for a week and went down [to Memphis],” Perkins said before pointing out that he was must-see back then before the gun scandal. “Listen, y’all had the city rocking. ESPN ain’t never packed up and went down there, spent millions of dollars to go do an all-access on y’all in Memphis. They did that for Ja.”This season, the Grizzlies have 10 nationally televised games.
Morant was suspended by the league twice in 2023 for videos of him holding a gun.
Since then, Morant has veered away from any issue as he continues to lead the Grizzlies this season.
