The Los Angeles Clippers have had quite the summer, to say the least. It all started with them making some moves, but then they were hit by the investigation surrounding Kawhi Leonard for improper benefits.
However, the Clippers were still able to make some moves while the entire thing was going on. One move included them being involved in the Peyton Watson deal, in which they got Max Strus.
“The Cavaliers, Nuggets and Clippers agreed on a trade that will send Peyton Watson to Cleveland and Max Strus to Los Angeles, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. As part of the multiteam deal, Denver will receive an unprotected 2031 Cavaliers first-round pick and a 2032 Sacramento Kings second-rounder, according to sources,” ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote.
In LA, Strus will team up with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate in Darius Garland. The point guard in Garland is excited to team back up with Strus.
“Yeah that’s my dog. Max is one of my favorite teammates I have had in my eight years in the league, so I’m super excited about getting back and reuniting with him. Really good floor spacer that can shoot the p**s out of the ball,” Garland said.
Something unfortunate happened on Sunday night in the Clippers' exhibition game. Strus had to leave the game with a foot injury.
“Clippers wing Max Strus left tonight’s preseason game against the Warriors in Hawaii with a non-contact right foot/ankle injury. He will undergo further testing back in Los Angeles. Last year, Strus had surgery for a Jones fracture in his left foot,” NBA insider Brett Siegel wrote.
This is the last thing that the Clippers wanted to happen, as he was going to be a big part of the offense. Strus is an elite shooter in the NBA, and that is what makes him so special for teams to use.
Strus is in the last year of his $62 million deal with LA. The hope is that this is nothing too serious and that he didn’t suffer a similar injury to the one that required surgery on his left foot last season.
