The New Orleans Saints drafted Jordyn Tyson in the first round with the No. 8 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Heading into the Saints' Week 4 matchup, Tyson has yet to play a game.

He's been on injured reserve since the start of the season. Tyson has to miss four weeks; then he's finally eligible to come off IR. But will he come back in Week 5?

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Saints' plan for Tyson has been revealed to be a much more patient one than an aggressive one, especially considering he's "weeks away" from a return this year.

Jordyn Tyson is 'weeks away' for Saints ahead of Week 4

"New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, who has been on injured reserve after suffering another hamstring injury, is said to be making progress and feeling good but it still considered to be weeks away from returning to action, league sources told ESPN," Schefter reports.

Tyson, when it was initially reported he'd land on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, was likely looking at an absence beyond four weeks.

With the fourth week of the Saints' season finally here, this report from Schefter confirms that Tyson is going to miss more than just the minimum four weeks.

But it goes beyond just a five-week absence; Schefter also reported that "the Saints are taking a patient, long-term approach with Tyson, who is not likely to return until Week 7 at the earliest, according to league sources."

Tyson might be out through Week 6, with a Week 7 return seemingly the earliest he could come back. But with a Week 8 bye, the Saints might have a tricky decision on their hands.

Do they bring him back for Week 7 to get a game under his belt before hitting the bye, or do they give him an extra week or so of rest to make sure he's fully healthy for the second half of the 2026 season?

It's a very interesting question that might not have an answer until Week 7 gets closer. But for now, the Saints are planning to be patient with Tyson, as he's still "weeks away" from getting back onto the field for New Orleans this season.
