To absolutely no one's surprise, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 gets crowned as the king, winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025. Against all odds, it beat giants like Death Stranding 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, and more, winning several awards in various categories, including the crown for the best video game released in 2025.
Expedition 33 also received a new "Thank You" update from Sandfall Interactive, adding new content to the game.

December 11, 2025, belonged to Sandfall Interactive, as the studio won its very first Game of the Year with its debut title, Clair Obscur Expedition 33. The game director for last year's winner, Astro Bot, Nicolas Doucet, crowned Sandfall's RPG as the winner for the 2025 Game of the Year.

The success story does not end only with the GOTY 2025, as Clair Obscur also won the following categories, making it the most decorated game in The Game Awards' history as of 2025.

- Best Music
- Best Voice Actor (Jennifer English)
- Best Narrative
- Best Game Direction
These add up to a total of 9 awards for the team at Sandfall Interactive and Clair Obscur Expedition 33, making it the only game to hold so many titles. As a thank you note, Sandfall Interactive released a new trailer, showcasing the free DLC and the content coming with it.
In our review for Expedition 33, we stated that the game is a celebration of video games and of art. With so many accolades won throughout the year, one can only hope that Sanfall Interactive will keep bringing such great games for the community, soaring even higher than the world of Lumiere.
