The Carolina Panthers are drastically rebuilding their defense. When they released Jadeveon Clowney, their team leader in sacks last year, people knew a hole was made, but it will be filled.
With Derrick Brown returning from injury and adding key pieces such as Bobby Brown III on the defensive front, the team needs a veteran presence that produces more than 5.5 sacks.
That is where Trey Hendrickson would fit in perfectly.
The biggest Bengal on that defensive side of the ball, Trey was expecting to get paid after having an outstanding 17.5 sack season again and being one of only a few players to even have back-to-back 15-plus sack seasons.
That should get him paid very well, but it looks like the Bengals have other plans after spending the majority of their off-season cap space on Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
This didn’t upset Hendrickson until the organisation stopped returning his calls.
He feels disrespected after being the good soldier for the team and being the best defensive player on the team.
This chance could put the Panthers in a position to pounce on such a good player to make a run at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for an NFC South title.
What kind of deal would it take to bring the Bengals’ star pass-rusher to the Carolinas? At least a second-round pick, more than likely due to his production, the Bengals may try to ask for a first, but will probably take a day two pick as long as the team distraction is gone.
The contract will more than likely be since he will be wanting at least 40 million dollars a year, a three-year, $120 million deal.
Trey could get more could be a little less but one thing is for sure he knows he is the guy and he is a little scorned from a team that he feels he gave it all to, so why not let him vent his frustration on the rest of the league, especially their division rivals in the NFC South.
