Chris Olave contract details: Saints give massive extension to star WR with history of injuries

The New Orleans Saints are keeping their star wide receiver around for the long-term.

Chris Olave, who already has three 1,000-yard seasons to his name after going to the Saints in the first-round of the 2022 NFL Draft, landed a rookie extension from his squad on Thursday, Adam Schefter reported.

Olave dealt with concussion issues that appeared to have a chance to derail his career in 2024 — but now, after posting personal-best numbers in 2025, he's secured a significant contract.

Olave's extension will be worth $132 million over four seasons, per Schefter, with $90 million of that total being guaranteed.

The 26-year-old quickly lived up to his first-round price tag in the NFL after starring at Ohio State. Olave went No. 11 to New Orleans in the 2022 draft, posted 1,042 receiving yards as a rookie, and has remained one of the league's best receiving threats when healthy.

In 2024, however, Olave's future was in question due to concussion issues. He played in just eight games — but last year, Olave put those concerns in the past by putting up a career-high yardage total and becoming a reliable weapon for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough.

With the Saints drafting another first-round receiver, Jordyn Tyson, earlier this year, they'll be hoping their star duo can help lead the franchise back to the playoffs as the team continues rebuilding.
