Chiefs punter Matt Araiza reveals major personal milestone

Kansas City Chiefs star Matta Araiza has just taken a major step in his personal life. 

The NFL punter has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Layla Murray.

Araiza's wife-to-be announced the news in a heartfelt post shared via Instagram on Sunday, March 15. 

"The easiest yes 💍🤍," the NFL WAG captioned the post, alongside a carousel of 14 photos - which happens to be Araiza's jersey number - from the proposal. 

In one photo, the newly engaged couple is seen standing on a riverbank near the water with a cityscape visible behind them. 

Another snap showed Araiza holding his fiancee, dressed in a black maxi dress, in the air as she wrapped her hand around his face.

Brittany Mahomes reacts to Matt Ariaza's engagement news 

Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was one of the first to congratulate the couple, commenting on the post, "Ahhhhhh perfection," along with a second message that read, "Congrats guys!!" 

Other fans flooded the comments section with supportive messages, with one writing, "Yay!!! The best is yet to come! So excited for you guys." 

"Congratulations & best wishes! The photos are gorgeous," another person gushed. 

"So happy for you two," someone else added. 

Murray, who became a registered nurse after graduating from San Diego State University in May 2025, hard launched her relationship with Araiza by sharing a cuddled up beach selfie via Instagram in March 2024. Two months later, she raved about how lucky she was to have found the NFL star in another post shared to IG. 

"Thank you for making me the luckiest girl. I love you. Happy birthday!🖤," she captioned the post.

The two have been seemingly rock solid ever since.

They regularly post sweet photos together on social media, and Murray is often seen in the stands proudly repping Chiefs gear and Araiza's No. 14. 

Congrats to the happy couple.
