Chiefs owner makes Andy Reid comment fans will love

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the apex predator in the NFL ever since Patrick Mahomes became the starter.

After at least being in the AFC Championship Game every season, the Chiefs' 2025 season saw them drop off with a 6-11 record and no playoff football.

But there can be good in a soft reset like that. It gives coaches and players a little extra time in the offseason to go through what worked and what didn't.

For head coach Andy Reid, it gave him a chance to have a breather from being the hunted every year.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt stated that Reid seems to have a new lease on life after having the time to step back from the program this offseason.

"He's reinvigorated," Hunt said via ESPN. "Going through multiple years where we were playing in the Super Bowl, creating these really short offseasons, put a lot of stress on him, as well as the entire team, including coaching staff and scouts. He's really benefited from having some time to really step back and think about [last] season, think about what didn't go right and think about what kind of changes need to be made.

"I do sense that he's excited to get started."

Reid ready to lead Chiefs resurgence

I'd expect a different-looking Chiefs in 2026.

Not one that will be vastly different, but different wrinkles on offense, with the Chiefs adding Kenneth Walker to the backfield. Could Kansas City draft a receiver? Possibly, but maybe not at No. 9, given they have two first-round picks.

So, the extra time the Chiefs have had this offseason might just be a blessing in disguise, as it has allowed Reid to have a deep dive into every facet of the team.

Yes, making the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl would have been better, but who knows? Maybe the Chiefs dropping off for a season was what the franchise needed.

And as such, Reid now has the ammunition and personal drive to take the Chiefs back to the top of the NFL mountain in 2026.
