Chiefs linked to Browns for a WR trade that'd make perfect sense for everyone involved

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos in Week 1 handily, but the passing game was still a bit of a concern coming out of the win.

Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, alongside the rest of the team's receivers, didn't really perform well. It wasn't a terrible game, but the Chiefs really could use more production from the WR room. So, why not make a trade?

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report named the Chiefs as a "potential suitor" for Cleveland Browns WR Jerry Jeudy. This trade idea would make perfect sense for everyone involved, as pretty much every angle of a potential deal would work.

"However, Jeudy is still only 27 years old and has a contract that should appeal to 2026 contenders in need of receiver help - he has a base salary of only $1.5 million," Knox writes. "... Potential suitors: Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots."

The Chiefs could use some extra wide receiver help, and Jeudy wouldn't be too expensive to acquire. Knox projects that his trade value would be a "conditional 4th-round draft pick."

While this fourth-round value isn't so small that a trade is a no-brainer, it's not too expensive to make a deal impossible to defend.

Adding Jeudy to the Chiefs' WR room would be a big help and give Patrick Mahomes another weapon to work with. Jeudy's had some bad QB luck; maybe he finally breaks out as the superstar he was once predicted to be coming out of college.

From the Chiefs' perspective, adding someone like Jeudy would make a lot of sense. But why would the Browns trade him away?

Well, they recently invested in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston in the first and second rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. With Isaiah Bond also an intriguing WR on the depth chart, Jeudy has become a bit expendable.

Considering this is a rebuilding team that just traded Myles Garrett, trading Jeudy would make a lot of sense as well. They have the WR depth to justify a trade, and likely won't have Jeudy as a part of their long-term plans at the position anyways.

Finally, from Jeudy's perspective, this trade would be about as good as it could get. Going from the Browns to the Chiefs, from Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders to Mahomes, would be an incredible change of scenery.

Between the cost, the fit, the need, and the lasting impact on both teams' depth charts at the position, a Jeudy-to-Kansas City Chiefs trade would make perfect sense for just about everyone involved.
