Chiefs' Andy Reid makes incredible Chris Oladokun admission after Titans loss

1 hour ago 2

The life of a backup quarterback isn't easy, and this week, Gardner Minshew got the start for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Tennessee Titans with Patrick Mahomes out with an ACL injury.

But it was also an interesting week for Chris Oladokun, who was Minshew's backup in Tennessee.

And the football gods clearly wanted to see Chris, as Minshew went down with what many believe is an ACL injury, and Oladokun came into the game.

He would go 11-of-16 for 111 yards as he was efficient, but was also sacked four times.

Given the injuries at the quarterback position, Oladokun could be in line to start in the final two games of the season, but what did head coach Andy Reid see from his young quarterback who was thrown into the fire?

"I thought he did ok," Reid said. "He was able to get us moving a little bit, probably could have given him better stuff to work with, particular get him more reps during the week. He didn't have any reps, but I thought for what he was asked to do, I thought he did a nice job."

No reps for Oladokun? Reid's comments baffling

Granted, this isn't totally out of the ordinary, and with Minshew coming into the starting role, getting him as many reps with the first-team as possible was the obvious play this week.

Oladokun likely had a lot of scout team reps with the rest of the roster this week, so not many full-speed reps with the starters.

And that is problematic, but that's the way of the league.

Still, Reid appeared content with what Oladokun did against the Titans, and yes, the 26-9 loss wasn't great, but at least the young quarterback got his feet wet ahead of what could be an interesting two weeks for him.
