The Kansas City Chiefs came into Week 7 as one of three undefeated teams in the NFL. But after a brutal loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Chiefs now sit at 5-1.
This Week 7 loss wasn't just a tough defeat on the road to the reigning Super Bowl champions; it was a beatdown that the Chiefs haven't seen with Patrick Mahomes under center once in the 153 games he's played with the team.
In fact, this horrible 20-3 loss made all sorts of NFL history for Mahomes and the Chiefs, making this game one to forget for Kansas City as they move on this season.
Chiefs make all sorts of brutal NFL history with 20-3 loss to Seahawks
ESPN Insights shared a series of brutal statistics that highlighted just how poorly this game went for Mahomes in the context of the rest of his NFL career.
"The Chiefs had their joint-fewest points (3), fewest Red Zone drives (0), and 2nd-fewest yards (213) in any of the 153 games started by Patrick Mahomes, regular season or playoffs," ESPN Insights shared.
ESPN Insights also noted how the Seahawks' 53% pressure rate on Mahomes was the fourth-highest pressure rate the Chiefs' future Hall of Famer has faced in his NFL career.
Unfortunately, that's really only scratching the surface of how bad of a loss this was. As Ben Solak of ESPN shared, the Chiefs' first points in this loss came with 1:42 left in the third quarter, making some history that Chiefs fans won't like to be reminded of.
"This is the latest the Chiefs have ever opened their scoring in a Patrick Mahomes *regular season* start," Solak shared. "Their first points in the 2024 Super Bowl v. the Eagles came with 0:43 left in the 3rd."

This brutal beatdown by the Seahawks defensively mirrored that of the Super Bowl the Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, though in this game, the Chiefs still had a chance of making a comeback when they first scored their points.
Those are some brutal statistics for the Chiefs from this Seahawks loss, but there's one more feat of NFL history the Chiefs made that makes this one of the worst games the franchise might've ever seen, Mahomes or not.
OptaSTATS shared that, "The Chiefs are the only NFL team in the Super Bowl era to have a game with: no 10+ yard rushes, no 20+ yard passes, no red-zone drives, no touchdowns, multiple missed field goals."
The offensive ineptitude against this challenging Seahawks defense isn't a surprise, but the extent to which Mahomes and the Chiefs offense struggled in this one is stunning.
The Chiefs can put this awful game behind them when they face the Denver Broncos in Week 8. But that Broncos defense is tough, and it might be another tough day for the Kansas City offense.
