Chicago is getting huge reinforcement in their secondary to combat the Rams' stellar passing game

1 hour ago 2

This weekend, the Chicago Bears will play in their first divisional round playoff game since 2010, when they defeated the Seattle Seahawks

This time around, they'll be facing the high-octane Los Angeles Rams, who boast not just one of the best offenses this season, but one of the best ever

Quarterback Matthew Stafford is the current betting favorite to win the NFL's MVP award, and the Rams have two of the top receivers in the game. They might have some weather to struggle with, but the Rams will be bringing an elite passing game with them.

Despite the Bears leading the NFL in INTs, their secondary has been a point of contempt for most of the season. They've battled injuries throughout the unit all year, but as of right now, it sounds like they'll be getting back a key contributor in the back end.

Bears CB CJ Gardner-Johnson set to make his return

On Friday, the Bears released their final injury report of the week, and it had an update about a key player for Chicago's defense.

Cornerback CJ Gardner-Johnson, who sustained a concussion in Week 18 and missed the opening game of the playoffs, was a full participant in practice all week and is no longer a part of the injury report.

This is a massive return for Chicago as they'll need as much help in the secondary as they can get with the Rams coming to town.

Gardner Johnson is also a massive addition, given his experience in these moments. The 7th year CB has played in the Super Bowl with Philadelphia in both 2022 and '24. His experience will help greatly.

Sunday in Chicago will be a frozen tundra, so it will be interesting to see if the weather mixed with a healthier Bears secondary will be enough to slow down Stafford and the Rams.
