Chicago Cubs Named Landing Spot for Red Sox Struggling Pitcher

The Chicago Cubs figure to be active in many MLB trade rumors this summer. After pulling off a trade with the New York Mets for David Peterson, it's very clear that Chicago is targeting starting pitchers.

With the Boston Red Sox continuing to fall in the MLB standings, all of their players immediately become expendable, especially the struggling ones like Brayan Bello. Bello has been stuck down in the minors due to his struggles, but it could be an interesting reclamation project for the Cubs.

Cubs Named Potential Trade Destination for Brayan Bello

In a recent trade rumors piece, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer suggests the Chicago Cubs as a top landing spot for Brayan Bello:

"Age: 27, 2026 Stats (MLB): 12 G, 61.0 IP, 78 H (10 HR), 44 K, 24 BB, 6.34 ERA, Contract: Year 3 of 6-year, $55 million (2030 team option)"

Look, those statistics aren't great, but neither are David Peterson's, and the Cubs showed no hesitance making that trade.

Chicago continues to be linked to all the top starters on the presumed trade market, like Tarik Skubal, Sonny Gray, and Joe Ryan, but the Cubs may want to add value in the margins without having to give up top prospects, which could be smart.

The Cubs are 44-37 after sweeping the Mets in a four-game set, and are now 6.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central.
